Celebrating Action Circles’ Contribution to an Award-Winning Book on School Food Politics

We’re proud to spotlight Transforming School Food Politics Around the World, a collection of works exploring bold, justice-centered strategies for school food systems globally. The book has recently earned two prestigious honors, the 2025 Association for the Study of Food and Society Book Award in the edited manuscript category and the 2024 Gourmand International Award for Best Book on School Meals.

Action Circles’ founder Amy Shollenberger contributed a chapter on Vermont’s Universal School Meals campaign showcasing how the Action Circles model helped shape novel legislation and grassroots advocacy in the field.

We’re thrilled to see this work gaining international recognition and to have the Action Circles model featured among global innovators in education equity and food policy.
