VTDigger Candidate Forums

VTDigger is holding two candidate debates for the lieutenant governor’s and governor’s races. The events will be broadcast live, in person and adhering to social distancing measures, from the Mad River Barn in Waitsfield. The public is invited to view the events via VTDigger’s livestream. 

The lieutenant governor forum, featuring Republican candidate Scott Milne and Democratic candidate Molly Gray, will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.

VTDigger will also host a moderated gubernatorial forum with incumbent Republican Phil Scott and his Democratic/Progressive challenger David Zuckerman at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29. 

Moderated by Anne Galloway of VTDigger, candidates will respond to reader questions gathered in advance of the debate. Anne will give a short introduction for each candidate and then we will go directly into reader questions. Each candidate will be allowed to ask two questions of their rival. Responses are 2 minutes, with a 1 minute rebuttal.

Addison County Candidates for the Vermont House & Senate will be participating in a series of virtual Candidate Forums co-hosted by the Addison County Chamber of Commerce (ACCOC) and the Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC). Sponsored by the Addison Independent.

These three candidate forums provide voters with an opportunity to get to know the candidates and their platforms. Register for one, two, or all three of the forums at https://www.addisoncounty.com/legislative-forums. (You must register to attend each virtual forum. A Zoom meeting link will be sent to you once you register.)

Bennington County

GNAT-TV Live Candidate Debates
​4PM on September 28th – Candidates for Bennington-4 House Representative Seats
October 7th at 4PM – Candidates for Bennington Senate Seats

GNAT-TV will offer extensive coverage of the 2020 election including candidate interviews and live candidate debates. GNAT-TV’s News Director, Andrew McKeever will moderate debates between State Representative Candidates and State Senate Candidates. The State Representative Debate with candidates Rep. Kathleen James, Seth Bongartz, and Rep. Cynthia Browning will take place at ​4PM on September 28th.​ The State Senate Debate plans with candidates Sen. Richard Sears, Sen. Brian Campion, Michael Hall, Meg Hansen, and Kevin Hoyt will take place on​ October 7th at 4PM.​ Both debates will air live on GNAT-TV’s Public Channel on Comcast Cable (channel number 1074), on GNAT-TV’s YouTube Channel and ​GNAT-TV.org​. ​The debates will also re-air Wednesdays & Saturdays starting at 8PM on Comcast channel 1074 and on demand on Roku, on Apple TV and gnat-tv.org.

Each debate will have a three phase format: traditional debate with timed question and answer, pre-submitted questions from local citizens, and a discussion. Citizens may submit a question for consideration at least 48 hours in advance by ​visiting gnat-tv.org/submit-questions/​.

In addition to the debates, McKeever will interview several candidates running for statewide office including: ​Governor Phil Scott, Lieutenant Governor Zuckerman, Molly Gray, and Scott Milne. ​Those interviews will be distributed on GNAT-TV’s distribution networks throughout September and October.
